Datsun Go-Cross Concept - 2016 Auto Expo Live

The muscular-looking budget crossover Datsun Go-Cross has witnessed first public debut in India at the just began 2016 Delhi Auto Expo today.

The concept from Toyko motor show last year will closely influence the production process of a crossover that is likely to be out before end of this year.

A first glance at the Go-Cross is pretty impressive. The bold hexagonal grille and broad bumper (which also houses day time running lamps and fog lamps) appears muscular and smart, along with the sporty swept back headlamps. In profile too, the shoulder line is prominent and adding to the flair are the plastic cladded wheel arches. The scuff plates seen all around add to the crossover appeal of the Go-Cross. The smartly designed roof rails are also appealing for a car of this kind.

When ready for production, the Go-Cross concept is sure to loose quite a few of the frills seen here. Nevertheless, the crossover is sure to lure the buyers in the segment with its distinct looks and proportions.

The crossover-styled concept is based on the Go+ MPV platform and will be the flagship model from the ultra-economical Go platform. The production-version of the crossover will come in both 5-seater and 7-seater options, although the latter will take some considerable time. The higher trims will get driver and passenger-side airbags, along with the ABS.

The Go-Cross will feature the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder DOHC 12-valve petrol engine from the Go stable. A 1.5-litre diesel engine is also on the cards at a later stage.
