The all-new Toyota Innova has been unveiled in India at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo today. The new MPV is to be called with a suffix - "Crysta" - to the original name, as the vehicle has undergone a comprehensive make-over, and is now more upmarket and premium.
Already launched in the Indonesian market, the new Innova is 4,735 mm long, 1,830 mm wide and 1,795 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. That means, the MPV is 150 mm longer than 70 mm wider than its predecessor than has been ruling the 7-seater MPV segment for a decade.

Design wise, the glaring hexagonal grille with twin chrome slats, sweeping-out projector headlamps, angular greenhouse (glassed-in upper section behind the second row) dominate the exterior stying in the front, while downward-sliding tail lamps define the rear. The side profile and the overall contour of the Innova appears a bit similar to the previous generation, although the car's silhouette is little swollen.
On the inside, the redesigned, premium-looking dashboard in beige and black tones with wooden treatments and fresh instrument console is appreciable. The new multi-functional steering wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system are the new additions, along with a host of knick knacks inside the cabin including snack tray for the second row passengers and roof illumination.
Other features in the Crysta includes automatic climate control with rear cooler, 17-inch alloy wheels, smart entry system with ignition button, chrome window lining, captain seats for second row, 7-inch audio system with navigation, and cruise control. Airbags will be offered as standard along with ABS and EBD.
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has not revealed the tech-specs and pricing strategy of the MPV. However, it is likely that the new Innova be priced higher than the current prices, crossing the INR 20 lakh mark. That may seem way too much for an Innova, but given the premium package and no-nonsense ownership, it would be worth the price.
