Chennai Auto Expo - Car gala

Eagerness prevailed, as every auto-maniacs in Chennai had something to look forward to at The Hindu Auto Expo 2012 that took place last weekend. The fair brought together some of the cars and automobile accessory brands, and featured stalls. Though there was a great deal of disappointment for car enthusiasts like me, the fair was, nonetheless, a perfect destination of choice for every potential automobile buyers in the city.

The best part of any Auto Expo is that the visitors have the decent liberty to do whatever they want. You can touch the cars, feel their charm, enjoy cockpits pampering you, stretch your legs to comfort at the backseat (sadly not every car here) and take photographs with your extrinsic posture, which you cannot do anywhere else. And for laymen, there will be tireless employees of auto-brands who could answer you or explain anything you want to know about their cars. This fair was not really an exception to it. Enter into the hall, the authority of Germans is obvious. The first stall to catch our attention was the Volkswagen, followed by BMW and Mercedes Benz. That was an unusual sight, there was three models of both BMW and MB at their respective stalls. The newly launched B-class and the 3-series attracted many.

Renault showcased every models of its fleet. Hyundai featured its new Elantra and Toyota brought in its limited editions of Etios and Liva. Skoda, Maruti Suzuki and Tata also featured stalls. There was few bike brands as well. Suzuki Hayabusa and Honda VT 1300 CX were the principle attraction. Bosch Car Wash, Ezi Oil and Map my India navigation system too featured stalls. And then comes the special pavilion of the fair, where people flocked to. The superlative cynosure of the fair was this side displaying Jaguar XF, Rolls-Royce Ghost, BMW 650i, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, Mercedes SL 600 and the E-class coupe. Essentially a divine paradise for car lover!!

The fair fairly missed several other auto-brands especially like the Mahindra, Ford, Fiat, etc. The expo was diminutive and sadly failed to do justice to the media hype!
