Volvo’s Air Motion Concept Is A Wild Imagination

Volvo’s Air Motion Concept will use the power of the wind to propel itself…..

What if you could have a vehicle that is lighter than an F1 car but can seat upto 3 and runs on something other than familiar fuel sources? Sounds like a product of someone’s day dream, isn’t it?? For Swedish car maker Volvo, this is much closer to the reality than one would imagine, with its new Air Motion Concept!

Designed like a clam shell and sculptured from ultra-light carbonfibre in a beautiful Scandinavian body, this car tips the scales at just 450 kgs! A powerful yet simple compressed air motion has been used for propulsion instead of a conventional internal combustion engine.

This motor cools down under load instead of heating up, and as a result heavy cooling system could be ditched in the concept. To compress the air needed for the centrally mounted air tank, Air Replenishment Sites are used. Powered by air turbines floating 300m in the air they harness wind power and convert it to electricity to provide the compression.

The concept embodies Volvo’s dream of a clean and safe, yet pleasurable driving experience.
Long live Volvo…..
