Maruti Suzuki India Limited’s (MSIL) has sold a commendable one lakh units of its premium hatchback Baleno in the domestic market within a year since its launch in October 2015. The company, in a press release today, also added that 33,800 units of the Baleno have been exported to far-off markets including Japan and Europe from India, in addition to the aforementioned domestic sales. This sales feat also means the success of the company's exclusive NEXA dealership. It seems that the consumers are appreciating the premium NEXA experience, as Baleno is sold only in these chain of showrooms along with Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
The Baleno made into the list of best-selling cars in the segment soon after its launch, thanks to its new styling unlike any other Marutis so far and its exciting equipment levels including Apple CarPlay. Built on a new platform, the trendy hatch has supremely comfortable rear seats and is easy to drive as well, especially in city conditions. It is equally fantastic on highways, that its high-speed composure and handling is really great. The cabin is well laid-out, but the plastic quality could have been better.

Moreover, the Baleno is adequately powered - both the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel are decent enough to assure brisky drives, though they may not be the segment bests. The engines are efficient as well - its less-than-a-tonne kerb weight has to be praised for sure. Yet, the hatchback lacks a solid feel in terms of construction, that the body panels feel a bit hollow. This can be the most raised criticism of this car, something that the company has to work on in the next-generation models.

The Baleno, exclusively manufactured at MSIL's Manesar plant near Gurgoan, is the also first car to be exported from India to Japan. The company now plans to rise the car's export destinations to about 100 international markets, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Latin America.
