Aston Martin's all-new, flag-ship grand tourer DB11 has been officially launched in India. Debuted at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the DB11 replaces the DB9 tourer and was previewed in the latest James Bond movie 'Spectre' as Aston Martin DB10. The sports coupe is also the first of seven new models the company has shortlisted for its 'second century' expansion plan. It is also the first series production Aston Martin to come with a twin-turbocharged engine.
It is indeed exciting that the legendary British carmaker has unveiled the DB11 in India, just days after the exclusively hand-built car went into production at the company's Gaydon, Warwickshire facility in Britain. The brand's official importer in India - Performance Cars, Mumbai - is planning to sell around 15-18 cars by 2017 to gain a fair share in the expanding luxury car market in the country.

The grandeur of this latest Aston Martin lies in its engine. Under the hood is the 5.2-litre twin-turbo V12 unit that generates a whooping 608 hp and 700Nm of peak torque, making it the most-powerful engine ever fitted to an Aston Martin. Of course the claim is quite evident. The DB11 roars from 0-100 kmph in 3.9 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 322 kmph. The engine is the coupled to a rear-mounted 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox with inputs from steering-mounted paddle shifters.

Nevertheless, the real impression of any James Bond's car is its bustling style and the road presence. The DB11 is quite an ace in this regard, take for instance the front wheel arch vents called 'Curlicue' and the 'AeroBlade', both inspired from the Aston Martin Vulcan race car. The sharper and bolder iteration of the iconic frontal design in DB11 can never be missed, while its forward-moving clamshell bonnet combined with the lower stance (than DB9) brings a whole new styling. The supercar is also longer and wider than the DB9, with an added 65mm of wheelbase, the DB11 now becomes a true 2+2 grand tourer than any of its predecessors.

The cabin is also more spacious and well-conceived, but also looks a bit familiar, thanks to the incorrigible flowing centre console. There is also too much of technology, like the 12.0-inch TFT all-digital display in place of analogue driver instrument cluster and the 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture support and character recognition.

All in all, the new DB11 seems to rightly set a stage for the company's future new-generation cars in India, like the next-generation Vantage, Vanquish or the DBX SUV.
