Hyundai has revealed the next, third-generation i30 5-door family hatchback ahead of its scheduled public debut at the upcoming 2016 Paris Motor Show. The new car sports an appealing modern design and improved built quality, along with host of engine options including turbo charged petrols. The car will go on sale in Europe early next year.
The i30 is an important product for Hyundai in the European markets in terms of sales, and is one of the best sellers of the brand globally as well. Therefore, the next-gen i30 has been created with a goal of appealing to all sorts of buyers - young, office-going, urban, travel freaks, etc. This is quite evident from the wide range of powetrains that are on offer in the new i30's line-up - three petrol and three diesel engine options. The base range petrol unit is a 1.4-litre MPI generating 100 PS; next is the downsized 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged unit producing 120 PS, while flagship petrol is a 1.4-litre with a power output of 140 PS. The car's diesel line-up includes a 1.6-litre DOHC in 3 tunes - 95 PS , 110 PS, and 136 PS. All these engines will either be paired to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT auto.

Design wise, the new i30 is an apparently a visual upgrade, taking the brand's design language to a whole new level. Up front, the fresh cascading grille with chrome-plated dots along with the triple-projector full LED headlamps and integrated LED DRLs with indicator function dominates the attention. The bonnet seems little longer than usual, but the proportions are balanced with short front and rear overhangs. The sloping roofline meets the blacked roof spoiler, while the wrap around LED tail lamps and rear detailing creates a dynamic impression. The car's sleek design is rightly reflected in its low aerodynamic drag co-efficient of just over 0.30.

On the inside, the new i30 looks more premium that the out-going car, and the cabin is filled with fancy tech and driver assist features. The floating 8-inch touch screen infotainment-cum-navigation system on the dashboard is a real stunner, while the panoramic sunroof is classy. Safety features in the new car includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Driver attention alert, Blind spot detection, and knee airbag (along with 6 standard airbags).
Interestingly, the new i30 family will feature the first high performance-oriented model under Hyundai's 'N' brand which will go into production in 2017.
