BharatBenz 3723R (10x2) Made-In-India Truck Presented At 2016 IAA Hannover

BharatBenz 3723R India at IAA

Daimler has displayed the India-made BharatBenz 3723R (10x2) five-axle rigid truck at the 2016 IAA Commercial Vehicles Show, Hannover that has just begun today. Locally assembled at DICV's (Daimler India Commercial Vehicles) Oragadam plant near Chennai, the truck uses a major deal of components produced from India along with technological expertise from the parent group. The export-variant of the BharatBenz 3723R is Euro V-compliant right-hand drive truck, therefore its target markets are primarily off-Europe per se.

The truck is already on sale in the Indian market, and is powered by 6.4-litre (6373 cc) in-line six-cylinder Mercedes-Benz OM 906 diesel engine developing up to 238 hp (175 kW) of max power at 2200 rpm and  850 Nm of torque at 1200-1600 rpm. Coupled to a Mercedes-Benz G 131 9-speed synchromesh gearbox, the unit features  395 mm single dry plate, hydraulic clutch with clutch booster. This compact engine is widely used by the parent company across globe and is familiar in Europe as well, although its components are locally assembled in India. The Indian-spec variants are available in both BS 3 (Euro 3) and BS 4 (Euro 4) standards.

The chassis features parabolic springs on the axle up front, while the steerable driven axle comes with air suspension and the two other rear axles are equipped with semi-elliptic leaf springs. The well-built, ergonomically designed modern sleeper cabin of this truck comes with tiltable berth. 3-way adjustable driver seat, easy-to-read instrument cluster with informatics display, and electric cabin blowers with air-conditioning option.

The BharatBenz brand symbolises the global dynamism of the Daimler group at the international arena like the IAA show, and so the CV giant never misses to display its products from region-specific brands across the globe. Last time at the 2014 IAA show, the company showcased the made-in-India BharatBenz 3143 heavy-duty mining dump truck.
