Mini cars like these are, from the entry-level hatchback buyer's sense, appealing and advantageous. For an everyday, urban requirement, its compact dimensions and easy-to-drive/ park nature works in favour. These cars are light-weight, therefore are powered smaller engines and are surprisingly decent in performance and fuel-efficient. Plus, these new-age cars aren't so dull or cheap-looking in terms of exterior design. Somehow, every carmaker in this segment evokes an SUV-ish or crossover outlook, and buyers hardly have anything to complain about.

The Fiat Mobi bags all those good things, along with a unique (rather unconventional) design and styling. The taller hood-level and domineering signature grille-head lamps combo is a fundamental premise of these mini cars, but the Mobi has an exceptionally large nose portion, especially when seen together with the truncated rear. Yet, the front fascia is attractive and adds an aggressive character to the car. The side profile is largely defined by the large wheel-arch projections and character detailing, while the rear is again eccentric with all-glass tailgate, complementary tail lamp clusters and large bumper. There is also an exclusive trim that adds adventure 'cross' styling with blackened bumper guards, flared fenders and roof rails.
On the inside, the car features better-finish interiors and a 3-spoke multi-func steering wheel. It is reported that a new infotainment system smartphone connectivity and navigation is on the anvil. Other features of the cabin includes adjustable two-position split rear seat backrest, wide-angled door openings and comfy seats.

The Mobi is very small, measuring just 3566 mm in length, 1633 mm in width, and 1490 mm in height, with a wheel-base of 2305 mm. This obviously compromises rear seat leg and shoulder room and cargo boot space, nonetheless, its rival cars aren't any better in this regard. It is built on a shortened Uno/ Mille platform and designed exclusively by the Brazilian FCA team. Under the hood is the flex-fuel 1.0-liter I4 engine pumping out 73-74 hp max power output depending on the fuel (petrol or ethanol). Paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the Mobi can hit 0-100 kmph in 14.3 seconds. A 3-cylinder engine is on the anvil as well.

As of now launched only in Brazil, the Mobi costs 31,900-43,800 Brazilian Real (approx. INR 6.02-8.2 lakhs) depending on the trim. It will fight against the upcoming Volkswagen Up! and Renault Kwid in the market. Fiat has no plans to offer this car outside the Latin-American markets as of now, therefore no possibility for the Indian market any time soon. But the Mobi can make a good case against the cars like the Kwid, Datsun GO, Maruti-Suzuki Celerio, Chevrolet Beat, and the upcoming Datsun redi-GO in India. It is well-built and more premium-looking than many of its rivals.
