At the Mercedes pavilion inside the on-going 2016 Auto Expo, one car that is so spectacular as to attract and hold every visitor's attention was this - the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard - that is already available in India for a whooping price of INR 8.9 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) as the most costliest car from the Mercedes's stable. This flagship civilian armored car provides an all-round protection to the level of VR9 resistance class in both transparent and non-transparent body parts. Further, outstanding occupant comfort from AIRMATIC suspension, a powerful V12 engine, and intelligent driver assistance systems are on the offer too.
Mercedes's Guard range of special protection vehicles have a long tradition in the armoured car category, and the range includes models from the S, E, M and G-Class as well. The S 600 Guard is the latest addition, and the 'Maybach' nameplate has been renewed as per the company's new naming convention.

The S 600 Guard's durability stems from the reinforcement of the base structure that is integrated into the bodyshell production stage itself. The glass areas are coated with polycarbonate on the inside for splinter protection. The advanced underbody armouring technique covers the underbody almost entirely for the first time. The suspensions have been tweaked, along with the durable run-flat tyres that can be driven even in damaged conditions for around 30 kms. An automatic fire suppression system and a fresh air system in the cabin will come for the rescue in case of an emergency.
However, in spite of heavy protective measures, the S 600 Guard is hardly distinguishable from the regular S 600, with the latter's elegance and opulence completely retained. The heavy car is powered by a V12 6.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine that develops a max power of 530 hp (390 kW) and 830 Nm of torque. Paired to a 7-speed 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission, the S 600 is no looser in road performance as well.
