The new-entrant Jeep has presented the high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT at the on-going 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. The SUV will be launched in the later half of this year in India, along side the regular Grand Cherokee. The SRT edition is muscular and stylish, equally capable and refined like the other Jeep models, and can reach 0-100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of around 250 kmph!
The Cherokee SRT features a unibody chassis and four-wheel independent suspension system for a optimum off-road handling. It's platform is actually a derivative of the Mercedes M-Class platform. The SUV measures 4,846 mm in length, 1,954 mm in width and 1,749 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,914 mm.
Under the hood is the 6.4-litre HEMI V8 naturally aspirated petrol engine developing a max power of 461 bhp and 624 Nm of peak torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters delivers the power to the wheels using Quadra-trac active-on-demand AWD system. The SRT also houses Brembo high-performance braking system and Selec-Track traction control. Active damping and suspension, along with the steering, has been tuned for high-performance.

Outside, the Grand Cherokee SRT is both modern and aggressive than the regular Cherokee. Apparent up front are the brawnier seven-slot signature grille with black screen inserts, LED character lamp treatment along with unique black background, a smarter lower grille, and contoured hood. On the sides, the five-spoke polished-finish 20-inch 'Goliath' wheels and detailed wheel arches catch the entire attention of on-lookers. A nice, wrap-around taillamp units with LED inserts, one-touch liftgate and a new sporty spoiler adds the style at the rear.
Inside, the SRT features SRT-exclusive three-spoke, heated steering wheel and comfy paddle shifters, an 8.4-inch touchscreen with Performance Pages data and Uconnect infotainment, sporty Nappa leather trimmed seats, and chrome pedals. The cabin feels more modern and luxurious in spite of being an old-school evolved brute off-roader, something that is very hard to bring a balance.
