The regular D-Max that is already in sale in India for some years is the older, first-generation model. The new V-Cross is more modern in terms of design and built quality, sharing its ladder chassis platform, construction and mechanical componentry, and interior design with the latest Chevrolet Colorado Pick-up, which is also on display at the auto expo. Further, the new pick-up gets the iGRIP feature – Isuzu Gravity Response Intelligent Platform - as claimed by the company.

Design wise, the V-Cross mimics the design and appeal of the Chevy Colorado in the sides, but its unique identity comes from an aggressive angular and upswept headlights and a more contemporary full-chrome grille that dominates the front fascia. At the rear, the vertical, boxy-looking tail lamps flank cargo bed of the pick-up. On the inside, the conventional dashboard design and dual-tone interiors are way better than the first-generation D-Max model.

Under the hood is the BS 4 compliant 2.5-litre four-cylinder VGS diesel engine with turbo-intercooler that produces 134 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm. The powertrain is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The top-end trim (that is displayed here) gets steering mounted controls, touch-screen centre console display, shift-on-the-fly 4WD knob, dual front airbags, and ABS with EBD.
