These pictures of the new Innova are official, although not
by Toyota Kirloskar Motors of India but by Toyota Astra Motor of Indonesia
who's brainchild the Innova MPV is. The new Toyota Kijang Innova, as officially
known in Indonesia, is said to be gearing up for a market launch on 23rd of
this month. It is yet to be confirmed officially by Toyota Kirloskar Motors on the new car's launch in India. All we can expect is that the new Innova will hit our
roads by next year in all probability.
As far as the car is concerned, the 2016 Innova is 4,735 mm
long, 1,830 mm wide, and 1,795 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. The
comprehensive exterior restyling involves a glaring hexagonal grille with twin
chrome slats, sweeping-out projector headlamps, angular greenhouse (glassed-in
upper section behind the second row), and downward-sliding tail lamps. The side
profile and the overall silhouette of the car remains largely the same.
On the inside, the new Innova is more than appreciable
thanks to the redesigned, premium-looking dashboard in beige and black tones
with wooden treatments, fresh instrument console, a multi-function steering
wheel and a touchscreen infotainment system. The interiors of the existing first-generation Innova is largely out-dated and dreary, it's been unchanged for more than a
decade.
The cabin of the new car also gets rear AC vents, LED
ambient lighting, and a cooled glove box. The flagship variant in Indonesia
will be equipped with 7 airbags, ABS and ESP. The Indonesian Innova gets two
engine options - a 2.0-litre petrol and a 2.4-litre diesel - both paired to either
a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.
