Born to replace the high performance compact BMW 1M Coupe,
the new M2 promises new pinnacle of design, dynamics, and driving pleasure with
its extrovert styling, light-weight aluminium body, 6-cylinder in-line
high-performance engine, rear-wheel-drive agility, and M Sport suspension.
The 2017 BMW M2 Coupe will go on sale in Western markets by
April 2016. A public debut is expected at the upcoming 2016 Detroit Motor Show
in January next year. To be priced around $52,000 to $55,000 (INR 33,82,340 -
35,79,259), for the MT (6-speed) and DCT (7-speed) option respectively, the M2
Coupe will compete with the likes of Mercedes AMG A45 and Audi RS3.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged
straight 6-cylinder engine generating 370PS (365hp) at 6,500rpm, while max
torque of 465Nm (343 lb-ft) is on demand between 1,400 and 5,560rpm. BMW says
that an overboost function raises the torque by 35Nm to 500 Nm (369 lb-ft)
between 1,450 and 4,750rpm.
