Jaguar’s next-generation mid-size luxury sedan XF, which awaits
a global launch at the New York Auto Show next month, was spotted testing at
the Canary Islands, off the Moroccan coast in mid-Atlantic. It is under extensive post-production tests in various countries. Though the test
mule was camouflaged inside out, the spy pictures by the Auto Week readers
makes it obvious that the car has grown lengthwise relatively to the existing
model, which will benefit cabin space and rear legroom.
It is very clear from the past two years that the Tata Motors owned iconic British brand clearly knows where it is destined for. With new models covering different segments and strategies, Jaguar is undeniably an ever-lasting threat to the established German luxury brands.
The new XF, which is all set for a global launch next month, seems to borrow design elements from its recent
born younger sibling XE, which was unveiled at last year's Paris Motor Show. In fact, the XF is built on the lightweight iQ
modular aluminium architecture, which spawns the XE and the Jaguar's upcoming F-pace
SUV. The interiors and dashboard design is also expected to be an evolution
from that of the XE sedan. We have to wait for the official images to comment any further on the design and engineering of the new XF.

Another delight of the new XF will be the ‘Ingenium’ range of engines, which the Jaguar-Land Rover debuted on the XE sedan last year. These next generation 4-cylinder fuel engines are said to be fuel efficient and low in Co2 emissions. A V6 supercharged petrol and an even bigger 5.0-liter supercharged V8 will also be offered in this second-generation XF as before.
There have been reports earlier that the XF will also find a
long-wheelbase variant for the Chinese market, so as to compete with 5 Series
L, the E Class L and the A6 L. China is one of the biggest market for the Jaguar, and the brand's presence in the market share is highly influential across luxury sub-segments. It will be unveiled at one of the major Chinese
auto shows this year.
