Whenever we think of some cars with boxy and retro styling,
the Logan strikes our mind obviously. Ironically, that even became its USP for
some people, especially aged seniors. Existing in our market for almost half a
decade, the Logan failed to manage a good sales record being an effective and
quality offering. But things gonna change a little in its new avatar!
After the split between Mahindra and French car maker
Renault was made official and the complete ownership of its flagship entry
level sedan now in its palms, Mahindra has gone ahead and revamped the styling
of its Logan model, now calling it the ‘Verito’.
This re-christened version retains the same strengths of the
older Logan, but has been speckled with several rugged and sporty styling
elements to the acquinted wide-body Logan in order to make it look a bit more
exciting than earlier. The exterior of the Verito now flaunts ski racks and
side cladding, something not seen before in an Indian sedan.
A chrome spoiler
and appliqué give the new Verito a nice distinctive look at the rear. It will
continue to be powered by the same Renault engine and offer oodles of space as
the older model. Coming with both, a 1.5 DCi CRDi diesel engine or 1.4 MPFI
petrol engine, the Verito is expected to offer an amazing 21.03 KMPL fuel
efficiency as before.
The abundance of safety features like ABS, Driver Airbags, EBD
and driver information systems gives the car a slight edge over its worthy
competitors. The new Mahindra ‘Verito’ is competitively priced at Rs. 4.82 lakh
(petrol BS3 version) and Rs. 5.62 lakh (Diesel BS3 version) which may tempt a
few customers who expects a value offering.
As the boxy-design language obviously existing as before, it
is highly doubtful whether the Verito will deserve a good attention among the
entry-level sedan customers. But competitive prices, value features and fuel
efficiency will definitely tempt those who suspect it.
