Scania India is showcasing its P 410 premium range mining
tippers - P 410 (8×4) coal body and P 410 (8×4) with an SSAB built rock body -
at the on-going International Construction Equipment and Technology Trade Fair
– EXCON 2015 in Bengaluru. Early this year, the company sold 200 units of these
mining tippers to the BGR group in a single order, largest ever in India so
far. These P 410 off-road trucks are designed to meet the toughest
demands of the mining and construction sector with rugged built and technology.
Strong modular chassis and durable cabs approved in Swedish
impacts tests are the merits of the Scania P 410 range. The trucks offered in
India are powered by turbocharged DC 13 engine, a 13-litre 6-cylinder inline
diesel unit that pumps out 410 bhp of max power and 2000 Nm of peak torque at
1000-1350 rpm. The engine is BS 3 (equivalent to Euro 3) compliant. The fuel
tank capacity is 200 litres.
Notably, the engine is mated to a 14-speed semi-automated
gearbox featuring Scania Opticruise technology. It is an automated gear
changing system that provides accurate and smooth gear-changing for reduced
driver fatigue. The system selects the most appropriate gears for the operating
conditions, significantly increasing fuel efficiency and service life of the
gearbox. It is still possible to choose manual mode, and change gears manually
at any time.

and turning radius is 10460 mm. The P 410 also bags cruise control and an
optional Idle Shutdown feature that turns-off the engine automatically at long
idles, thereby saving fuel from wastage. On safety front, the truck range comes
loaded with features such as ABS, Hill hold, in-cab smoke detector and a fire
suppression system, emergency steering (2-circuit), all-disc brakes, reverse
alarm, programmable speed limit, and 3-point seat belts. The Scania P 410 truck
